Inauguration of Farmer First Project.

 

Farmer FIRST programme was inaugurated in Umtham village, Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya on 3rd December, 2016. A Farmer-Scientist interactions and Training-cum-Input distribution and Agricultural Education Day programme was conducted during the day in the presence of the following scientists: Dr. N. Uttam Singh (Agril. Statistics), Dr. H. Rymbai (Horticulture), Dr. Ashok Kumar (Animal Production), Dr. P. K. Sinha (Agril. Extension), Dr. Thoi Thoi Devi (Agronomy), Er. Hijam Jiten Singh (Agril. Engineering), Dr. Gojendro Singh (Fisheries Resource Management) Mr. D. Rangslang TO. (Agril. Extension), Mr. Nthaniel and Mr. Ajeet Kumar Pal SRF (NICRA -TDC). More than 150 farmers with village secretary of 11 villages namely Boragang, Parangang, Lalumpam, Barkhatsari, Nalapara, Jaigang under MArangar cluster and Umtham, Nongagang, Sarikhusi, Mawttnum and Pahamrinai under Sarikhusi cluster

have participated. Dr. P. K. Sinha Scientist (Agril. Extension) briefly explained about farmer FIRST project. Dr. H. Rymbai Scientist (Horticulture) interacted with the farmers regarding pea and lentil crop cultivation. Pea and lentil seed were distributed to the farmers and Zero-tillage pea cultivation in the rice fallow field was demonstrated. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. N. Uttam Singh.
